What our customers say
Relaxed, beautiful, Sunny Sunday with friends.... We were greeted warmly, and shown to a lovely, round table, with enough room for a small pushchair, as one of our party was just 4 months old!
We arrived at 2pm on Sunday, to be told that the main menu wasn't on offer until 3pm, but we could choose from their 'Brunch Menu'
The Brunch menu included some lovely looking poached egg dishes, and it had a great looking offer on dishes from that menu with drinks.
We decided that we wanted to wait for the full menu (from 3pm), and our server was so good at recommending some light drinks, cocktails and wines, while we waited...
The restaurant was so comfortable, the seating was not to close together, and easy to relax in, while we know we had at least an hour before the main menu would be served...
The service was so 'unfussy' we didn't feel like the staff were over the top, or trying to make us order, we really enjoyed our bottle of local, Tenerife Red wine (28E) and we were encouraged to try the easy going cocktails, my companions went for a 'Pink Collins', even though the full cocktail menu wasn't available until 5pm...
Before 3pm, our fantastic server came over (I'm so sorry, I don't remember her name) and we decided on starters and mains... I must say... this menu (available online before you arrive) caused us to send the lovely serving staff away 3 times... because, there are so many amazing things.. from meats, fish, veggie and vegan... there is also a fresh lobster option as well!
We did eventually manage to order from the extensive, delicious sounding menu...
I ordered the lobster bisque... which was delivered in a beautiful, large lip bowl.. the flaked lobster and sour cream were in the dry bowl.. and our server then poured the broth over the cream and lobster... which made the stunning soup light, and beautifully seasoned. Amazing start.
My companions had a few of the starter dishes from the fantastic menu, including a stunning grilled cauliflower 'steak' and a really gorgeous tuna 'Tataki' which was seared at the table with a hot coal... starters and theatre... so far, so good...
And on to the main.. WOW.
I don't want to give too much away (spoliers)....
8 hour slow cooked Pork Cheek... INCREDIBLE
Every single thing we tasted on the main menu was balanced PERFECTLY.... all the puree, all the sauce, the blue cheese quenelle, reductions, herbs... absolute PERFECTION.
You also have the choice of sides, we took truffle mash, and saute potatoes.. both incredible... and the triple cooked chips looked sooooo good!
We were absolutely having a brilliant time, with our wonderful starters and mains, wine, and an extensive Gin menu... This was going to be the best Sunday afternoon we've ever had!
Honestly, the service was first class... we NEVER felt hurried, our waiting staff had a great sense of humor too... there was a shift change, and we had Jorge, as our server after mains....
The dessert menu is small.... and thank goodness!!! Do a few things well, and we're happy.. and we really were... the chocolate mousse was... I apologise for this... But F***ing amazing.... Creamy, choccy, textures of crumb, and cut through with a lush orange sorbet... Order this, you will go home happy.. I promise.
For 'afters' I also ordered, the typical Canarian coffee 'Barachiquo' and it was served, layered, with strong espresso, and condensed milk... well, if you've never had one, order it here.
In summary, 5 of us ate, stunning starters, magnificent mains, and delicious desserts, with attentive service, great surroundings, music, cocktails, and unhurried.... the service was a highlight here...
Jorge is deserving a mention, great sense of humour, great attitude, we loved the service in Lagarto... thanks...
We had a great time, and we will be back.
Food arr Very friendly staff to begin with but once we were served food it was beyond expectation. Not only cooked fantastically but looked like a piece of artwork when served. Delicious and highly recommended.
